The second series of the popular thriller The Recruit is set to hit Netflix next month. The secret-agent drama, featuring Black Adam and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before actor Noah Centineo, is back for another round.
Netflix has confirmed that the new series will be released on January 30, after a series of delays due to the Hollywood strikes in 2023. The second season of The Recruit consists of only six episodes, compared to the first season’s eight episodes.
Despite having fewer episodes this time, the action promises to be even more intense. Lead actor Noah hinted that his character Owen’s “headspace is complete chaos” following Nichka’s (Maddie Hasson) murder of her mother Max, confessing that his character is “wondering how in the hell” he will survive the “next few seconds of his life”.
However, there’s no time for him to process what’s happened as he’s dispatched on a new spy mission in South Korea. This new setting means new characters will be introduced.
Teo Yoo, Shin Do-hyun, Young-Ah Kim and James Purefoy are among the stars joining the cast of The Recruit, reports the Mirror.
Yoo, an actor and martial artist, has landed a significant role in the series. He will portray South Korean National Intelligence Service agent Jang Kyun.
His co-star Noah and show creator Alexi Hawley have lavished praise on Yoo.
“He’s just an incredibly talented actor who brought great humanity to the role. He is also a badass,” Alex remarked, while Noah observed: “Our season 2 story arc is totally dominated by his performances and intensity. We became friends quickly, and our work was always a collaborative and fulfilling process.”
In conversation with Tudum, Alexi hinted: “Owen rolls into this season basically screwed. Owen knows that if he does not walk away with a win this season, his career is going to be over. He might go to prison.”
Alexi takes on the roles of showrunner and executive producer with Noah, Doug Liman, Gene Klein, David Bartis, Adam Ciralsky, Charlie Ebersol, and Julian Holmes joining him.
Returning for the second series of The Recruit are Aarti Mann, Colton Dunn, Fivel Stewart, Kristian Bruun, Kaylah Zander, Hasson, Angel Parker, and Vondie Curtis-Hall. Moreover, Nathan Fillion is set to come back as CIA Director Alton West.
