An opportunity has arisen for a couple to relocate to a charming village in the Highlands. Recruitment company Greycoat Lumleys is currently advertising two positions in a “wonderful location” near Braemar.
The jobs would involve managing up to three privately-owned properties that are rented out to guests as self-catering accommodation. Braemar, which is within the Cairngorms National Park, is known for its woodland scenery spectacular and walking trails.
It is a popular destination amongst tourists, thanks to its close proximity to the Royal Family’s Balmoral estate and its wide range of whisky distilleries. The roles would start in either January of February in the new year and will pay £60,000, depending on experience.
One major advantage of the positions is that they come with a two-bedroom property. According to the job listing, the owners will cover the property’s Council Tax and contribute towards utility bills — while pets are also allowed “within reason”.
Responsibilities of the jobs will involve maintaining the owners’ properties and surrounding land. Specific tasks will include housekeeping for guest arrival and changeovers, laundry and ironing, and meeting and greeting guests.
Meanwhile, the successful applicants must also maintain “excellent communication” with the owners. They must inform the family of any important matter relating to the properties, the business, and guests.
The job listing states: “Greycoat Lumleys has a wonderful opportunity for a couple who are able to manage their own duties and responsibilities working in a wonderful location near Braemar.
“The properties the couple will manage are privately owned by a family and they are rented out on a self-catering basis. There are two properties with four bedrooms each (a third will be added at a later date).”
When you and your other half are not working, there is plenty to get up to in Braemar and the surrounding area. The village features a wide variety of independent shops that stock everything from handmade clothes to artisanal chocolate and beer.
Braemar is also home to a range of cosy cafés, restaurants, and pubs, while the historic Braemar Castle is definitely worth a visit. Each year, the village also hosts the Braemar Gathering Highland Games, which are regularly attended by members of the Royal Family.
More information about the job listing can be found on the Greycoat Lumleys website.
