FISHERSVILLE, Va. (WHSV/Gray News) – An Amber Alert has been canceled for three children who were reportedly kidnapped at an apartment complex in Virginia Thursday morning.

Virginia State Police canceled the alert at about 6 p.m. local time, saying the children were found safe.

Authorities did not share any further immediate details.

Officials said earlier in the day they determined the children’s estranged biological mother, Shanice Chante Davidson, was responsible for their disappearance.

The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office said the reported kidnapping took place at the Bobby’s Way apartment complex in Fishersville.

Police believed the children were with Davidson.

Deputies said they initially responded to a 911 call from the children’s parent at about 8:27 a.m.

The three children were “waiting for the bus, when a black 4-door vehicle pulled up to the bus stop, and took the children,” the sheriff’s office said.

The three children involved in the Amber Alert were:

  • Jai’Marcus Lewis, 10, Black male
  • Ja’Miyah Lewis, 8, Black female
  • Ja’Liyah Lewis, 6, Black female

Both Ja’Miyah and Ja’Liyah were wearing pink jackets, while Jai’Marcus was wearing a black and dark blue jacket with neon zippers, officials said.

Davidson was described as a 35-year-old Black female, 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 184 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with further information on the situation was urged to call the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office at 540-245-5333.
