Youth footballers are to take part in a new festival format aimed at growing the game.

Bosses at the West of Scotland Youth League have inked a deal to host the event at Ayr’s Shoot venue.

An innovative 3v3 games programme for 2019, 2018 and 2017 clubs will kick off in March 2025, in addition to bi-weekly fours for 2018 and fives for 2017 ages.

Shoot, which has undergone significant investment and regeneration, is seen as the perfect base to host the games programmes by league chiefs, who want to offer a variety of formats for the youngest players based on latest evidence from across Europe.

WoSYFL League Advisor, John Brown, said: “We are delighted to secure Shoot as the central venue for our youngest teams.

“James and his team have invested heavily in the facility and it will be the perfect place to host our games programmes.

“I’m involved with working groups who are exploring best practice across Europe and we’re delighted to work with Shoot to host 3v3 formats in addition to the usual fours and fives which I’ve no doubt will help the technical development of these youngsters into the future.”

James Griffith, Managing Director of Shoot, added: “We are delighted to support the West of Scotland Youth League by hosting their small-sided games programmes.

“In addition to the investment we’ve made in the facility we’ve also invested in a number of clubs and teams locally and we are really looking forward to welcoming all teams on Saturday and Sunday mornings from March 2025 onwards and hope this is only the start of a long relationship with the league and with local teams.”
