Sarah Hadland, a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, found herself apologising to her professional dance partner, Vito Coppola, during an appearance on BBC Morning Live on Thursday.

Presenters Gaby Roslin and Rav Wilding caught up with the Miranda actress, aged 53, and the professional dancer, aged 32, as they practised in their London rehearsal space.

The pair were discussing the semi-final ahead, which sees couples perform two dances. They have chosen a Tango set to Fleetwood Mac’s Big Love and a Jive to I’m So Excited by The Pointer Sisters for their routines.

However, Rav mentioned that Sarah was anxious about whether Vito would be familiar with their selected tracks. To this, Sarah exclaimed: “The music, I know the tunes really well, I’m So Excited, The Pointer Sisters, I was in a rah-rah skirt probably at a disco dancing to that in the 80s. I was there giving it absolute” before showing off some moves.

She went on: “Vito is a bit, he loves the tune, so when he first played me the music I was going bananas I was like: ‘I’m So Excited'” and she danced once again but this time accidentally knocked Vito in the face to which he went: “Ouch!”, reports the Express.

Sarah quickly quipped: “Sorry, man down, man down, sorry!” while Vito held his face still laughing.

It comes after the duo earned a score of 38 for their Charleston to Popular from the musical Wicked during last weekend’s Musicals Week, with Vito celebrating enthusiastically at the end of their performance.

Judge Shirley Ballas praised the standout performance, saying: “I am very into details, and at the beginning, every tiny detail, it looks like you’ve spent hours, and hours, and hours.”

She continued to applaud the performance, especially noting the quality of the lifts: “For me, the lifts were flawless, if you don’t mind me saying, you beautiful princess, a lady in your 50s, not scared to let Vito throw you all over the place. In every shape or form, I can honestly say I loved it.”

This weekend’s semi-final stage will feature Sarah and Vito alongside Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec, Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell, JB Gill and Lauren Oakley, and Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystal taking on the dance floor.

Viewers can look forward to Tasha and Aljaz gracefully Waltzing to Aretha Franklin’s (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman and livening up the pace with a Salsa to Girls Aloud’s Something New.

Chris and Dianne are set to entertain with a Charleston to The Blue Vipers of Brooklyn’s When You’re Smiling and will elegantly glide through a Viennese Waltz accompanied by Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters.

Meanwhile, JB and Lauren will perform a Salsa to Basement Jaxx’s Red Alert and exhibit fierce Paso Doble moves to Requiem for a Tower by Clint Mansell.

Elsewhere, Pete and Jowita are primed to thrill audiences with an intense Argentine Tango set to The Verve’s Bittersweet Symphony and charm with a Foxtrot to Bobby Darin’s classic hit Beyond the Sea.

Strictly Come Dancing airs this Saturday at 6:30pm on both BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
