Alan Halsall‘s future on Coronation Street has been hinted at this week, just days before the upcoming I’m A Celebrity final.
Alan is best known for his long running role as Tyrone Dobbs on the soap Coronation Street, where he has been a cast member since 1998. But the actor has taken a break from the show to partake in this year’s season of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here.
It has now been reported that Corrie bosses offered him a new deal before he left to take part in the show. Alan is reported to have agreed to stay on the soap opera until the end of next year, reports the Mirror.
Hinting at his future, a source told the Sun: “Alan is really loved on Corrie and bosses wanted him to know he had their full support. The jungle is going to open a lot of doors for him but they wanted to make sure he knows how important a part of the cobbles he is. Viewers will be seeing a lot more of him over the next year.”
Throughout his time on I’m A Celeb, Alan has referred to his role in Corrie on several different occasions, including him confessing that one of his campmates could end up joining him on the soap.
At the start of the week, Alan took on a trail with Coleen Rooney and the pair managed to win the full 10 stars for camp. Although they chose to keep their success a secret from the other campmates, Alan and Coleen agreed to pretend they had only won two stars until the meal arrived.
Coleen told Alan: “I’ll do my best acting skills, you can mark me out of ten!”
After returning to camp and following her performance, Alan jokingly said to Coleen: “I’ll be getting you a job in Coronation Street before you know it!” He added: “She’ll be the barmaid of the Rovers Return before you know it!”
Alan and Coleen are both still among the remaining campmates of the show, which is set to finish on Sunday night. They remain in camp with Barry McGuigan, Danny Jones, GK Barry, Maura Higgins, Oti Mabuse, and Rev Richard Coles.

Wednesday night’s episode left fans shocked as Ant and Dec announced a new twist, just days before the final. As campmates learned they would need to compete for immunity, by going head to head with their fellow campmates.
After the challenge it was revealed that Danny, Oti, Coleen and Maura had made it through to the next stage, and whoever wins the next challenge will be saved from the next two public eliminations and securing a place in the iconic Celebrity Cyclone.
Fans of the show have criticised the twist as it takes away the power from viewers at home.
However Ant and Dec expressed their support for the twist on the after show I’m A Celebrity… Unpacked, with Ant teasing: “It’s very exciting, it’s winner takes all.”
