Prince Harry has finally addressed the persistent rumours that he has split with Meghan Markle.
Speaking at the 2024 New York Times DealBook Summit on December 4, the Duke of Sussex, 40, engaged in candid conversation with journalists.
When probed about his personal life, Harry responded with a wry smile. Dismissing the divorce speculation, he joked: “Apparently we’ve bought or moved house 10, 12 times. We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it’s just like, what? ”
He referenced the countless baseless claims circulated on social media by detractors concerning his family life. Taking the marriage rumours lightly, Harry explained the reason behind not being seen often with Meghan in a professional capacity, which stirs up separation rumours, the Mirror reports.
He quipped to a reporter: “Because you invited me, you should have known,” eliciting laughter from the audience, as reported by Mirror US. While Harry was confronting the gossip head-on in New York, Meghan was attending an awards event in California, sporting more pieces from her high-end wardrobe, including black Stuart Weitzman heels.
On a serious note, Harry shared: “I’ve had a lived experience since I was a kid, I’ve seen stories written about myself that aren’t exactly based on reality. I’ve seen stories about members of my family, friends, strangers, all sorts of people.
“And I think when you grow up within that environment, you do find yourself questioning the validity of the information but also what other people are thinking of that as well, and how dangerous it can be over the course of time.

“The people I feel most sorry about are the trolls. Their hopes are just built and built, and it’s like, ‘Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,’ and then it doesn’t happen. So I feel sorry for them. Genuinely, I do.”
It seems Prince Harry and Meghan Markle remain a united front against the ongoing swirl of divorce rumours, despite engaging in separate public duties recently.
While the Duchess of Sussex was in California today attending an awards event, a German documentary titled ‘Harry: The Lost Prince’ aired this week, delivering harsh critiques of the couple, especially regarding their high-profile visits to impoverished nations contrasted with Meghan’s luxury fashion choices.
Commenting on the documentary, the Mirror’s Royal Editor, Russell Myers, remarked: “If you’re going to places like Nigeria, like Colombia, which have huge socio-economic problems, some of the world’s poorest communities in these countries, and you’re turning up wearing tens of thousands of pounds worth of designer clothes – it really doesn’t send the right message.”
