Pupils and staff at Perth Academy were evacuated following a fire on Wednesday afternoon (December 4).
Two Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) appliances were dispatched to the Murray Place school after the alarm was raised shortly after 2pm.
Perth and Kinross Council has said the fire broke out in a disused storage area and nobody was hurt.
The local authority has also said that the building was ventilated before activities resumed as normal later in the afternoon.
Eyewitness Jim Stewart, who lives in Perth, was in the area at the time and praised the school’s staff and the emergency services for their response.
In a post on social media, he said: “I was parking in that area en route to visit Fairview and saw the smoke.
“The professionalism of the staff in getting the children to the assembly points was first-class. The young people were also very focused.
“The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service arrived promptly and quickly extinguished the fire – great job guys!
“The professionalism of [head teacher] Eleanor Paul and her team meant the incident was contained without becoming a major incident.”
A spokesperson for PKC said: “Fire crews were called to Perth Academy just after 2pm on Wednesday, December 4, following reports of a fire in a disused storage area during lunch break.
