Fire crews descended on a flat in a Fife town last night following reports of a “strong smell of nail polish” coming from the property.

Three appliances from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) were called to Broomhead Drive in Dunfermline at around 5.20pm on Wednesday, December 4.

A specialist resource and two fire engines attended the emergency. Following the call out no casualties were reported and fire crews left after ensuring the area was safe.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 5.22pm on Wednesday, December 4 to reports of a strong smell of nail polish coming from a flat at Broomhead Drive, Dunfermline.

“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances and specialist resources to the scene which was a false alarm. There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was safe.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.
