A tattoo enthusiast who has spent years accumulating an impressive collection of body art has shocked onlookers with his latest design, a haunting tribute to a malevolent Christmas figure.
Tattoos are a matter of personal preference, ranging from subtle, discreet designs to larger, more visible ones. And one father, who has a teenage son, has invested a staggering £240,000 in his tattoos and body modifications, enduring around 2,200 hours under the needle.
Jeremy Schofield, also known as Remy, has previously shared his most painful tattoo experience – getting inked on the inside of his buttocks – and has also revealed his ‘vampire’ teeth.
The 36-year-old Canadian, who has become an internet sensation, is now 97% covered in ink after booking two tattoo sessions every week for the past seven years. Just when fans thought there was no more space left on his body for tattoos, Remy unveiled a massive, spooky new design on his back.
Remy had previously covered his entire back with black ink, but has now added a depiction of Krampus, complete with a protruding tongue. For those unfamiliar, Krampus is a malevolent Christmas character often referred to as Santa Claus’s “evil twin”.
According to legend, Krampus punishes naughty children, roaming the streets on Christmas Eve with a sack or basket on his back to collect and cart off misbehaving youngsters for drowning, devouring, or banishment to Hell. Speaking about his tattoo, Remy revealed: “From full black to colour Krampus back piece, brought to by patience, curiosity and imagination.”
Social media users swarmed the comments with their reactions. One person remarked: “Just in time for Xmas too.”
Another chimed in with a festive nod, saying: “Merry Krampus! ” While third admirer commented: “Wow, that’s amazing.” Yet another added: “Wow, great addition,” while someone else gushed: “It’s so awesome to see all your transformations! It’s like a book being written and the story just goes on and on.”
A long-time fan also queried: “Do you think you will ever cover this for a 3rd time? Just curious. I know you like to push boundaries.” To which, Remy responded” “Not this back piece no, but most likely my rose sleeve, which I’ve been pretty honest about since I started it.”
Earlier in a question-and-answer session with supporters, Remy delved deeper into his experience with tattoos, saying, “I’m having fun as I go. It’s not like it’s a painful or terrible feel I can’t wait for it to end.”
He likened it to leisure, adding” “I’m enjoying myself so for me it’s a little bit like going out for dinner or going to a movie with friends. When you’re having fun, you’re not really thinking about it that way.”
