City of Princeton kicks off Christmas season with annual tree lighting

PRINCETON, W.Va. -A tree lighting ceremony was held at the Chuck Mathena Center to welcome the Christmas season.

Due to cold temperatures the singing performance was held indoors. Students from Princeton Primary School and members of the Generations Choir both sang Christmas carols for visitors.

This is the third year the Chuck Mathena Center has hosted the tree lighting for the City of Princeton.

Candace Wilson, Executive Director of the Chuck Mathena Center says they installed a new tree this year that has many different colorful light displays for the community to enjoy.

“This one is L. E. D. It obviously does a lot of different light shows,” said Wilson. “It’s just not a static tree, it’s really cool. We’ve been working on it for about a year and a half, getting it programmed and all that fun stuff.”

If you would like to visit the tree, the Chuck Mathena Center is located at 2 Stafford Commons, Princeton, WV 24740
