I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! contestant Maura Higgins has finally opened up about the rumours linking her to TOWIE favourite Pete Wicks. She simply said during the interview: “I’m so proud!”
After leaving the Australian jungle as the sixth celebrity to be evicted, the 34-year-old joined ITV’s This Morning via video link last Friday, December 6.
While chatting with presenters Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond, Maura expressed her astonishment at how she managed to withstand the daunting trials and scarce rations in the feared campsite.
Towards the end of her engaging conversation with the hosts of This Morning, the topic inevitably turned to Maura’s personal life as Alison couldn’t resist delving into the gossip, reports the Express.
Alison excitedly inquired: “I’m very excited with you meeting up with Pete when you get back, we all know it’s Pete – don’t even go there and say it’s not Pete! You love him and he loves you, what’s gonna happen when you come back?”
To which Maura responded, only half amused, “It didn’t take you long to ask that question, Alison, did it?” She elaborated, stating: “Do you know what? You do forget about the cameras, and I do like to keep things private.”
Despite this, Maura admitted openly: “But let’s be real, I said it. Can’t remember saying it, but I said the words, ‘I miss him,’ and I do miss him. Like I miss all my friends and family.”
Acknowledging Pete’s support, she concluded: “But no, he is the most supportive,” declaring: “Honestly, I didn’t know if he was still in Strictly, and I’m so proud of him; he’s proud of me, and yeah, I can’t wait to see him when I get back!”
Alison couldn’t contain her excitement and asked Maura if she could be part of her bridal party. With a laugh, Maura responded: “You can be a bridesmaid, Alison, OK, for God’s sake.”
Fans were charmed by Maura’s appearance on This Morning, with many taking to social media to express their enjoyment. One fan commented: “I enjoyed watching Maura.”
Another shared their fondness for the Love Island star, stating: “I might be on my own here, but I like Maura. She’s a nice girl.”
A third fan added their voice, saying: ” I love Maura.”
Maura, the Love Island sensation, has recently been quite secretive about her romantic life. While in the jungle, she mentioned: “What’s the point in getting them [the media] involved too soon, when you just don’t know where it’s gonna go, you know?”
