The ITVX streaming app has reportedly gone down, preventing users from watching videos.

According to data from the outage monitoring service Downdetector, there has been a large spike in reports early Friday morning (December 6). Reports of the issue began to spike at 3.36am and peaking after 7.00am.

Users trying to watch on-demand videos on the app where greeted with an error message stating: “Sorry, it looks like there’s an issue with ITVX at our end. Please try again later”.

Many viewers have taken to social media this morning to express their frustration with the app, which has previously faced issues and was even criticised by Sir Alan Sugar earlier this year, reports the Mirror.

People were questioning why ITVX had not posted on its Twitter account about the app being down. As one user stated: “Is there a message about it which might help the poor, long-suffering viewer? Of course not!”

Whilst another said: “Not impressed after just becoming a premium customer.”

ITVX offers users the option for a free or premium subscription model, with the paid version having no third-party adverts and was launch in December 2022.Premium ITVX customers can pay £5.99 a month or £59.99 annually to watch programmes “ad-free”.

Although some subscribers, including Sir Alan Sugar claim they have still been shown adverts despite having paid for the premium subscription model. ITV uploaded a disclaimer on their website which states: “Ad-free applies to our on-demand library only and programmes may contain ITV promotions where contractually required. Live TV plays with ads..

Whilst a different disclaimer states: “With ITVX Premium, you can watch most shows and movies on demand without the adverts, and download them to watch offline.”
