Meghan Markle has been spotted at an award ceremony in a stunning designer gown without Prince Harry by her side.

Her red carpet appearance came as the Duke addressed the unwarranted speculation surrounding his relationship with the Duchess.

The German documentary ‘Harry: The Lost Prince” aired this week, criticising the couple’s high profile visits to impoverished countries in contrast with Meghan’s designer wardrobe, reports the Express.

Russell Myers, the Royal Editor for the Mirror, shared his thoughts on the program: “If you’re going to places like Nigeria, like Colombia, which have huge socio-economic problems, some of the world’s poorest communities in these countries, and you’re turning up wearing tens of thousands of pounds worth of designer clothes – it really doesn’t send the right message.”

Meghan attended the awards in California, whilst Harry was in New York at the 2024 New York Times DealBook Summit. Harry was asked about the rumours regarding his marriage ending, to which he simply laughed off.

Meghan arrived at the Tyler Perry awards ceremony in Beverly Hill dressed in a designer gown. The Duchess accompanied her black floor length dress with a pair of black Stuart Weitzman heels and a silver Logan Hollowell necklace, as well as opting for a natural makeup look and a neat up-do.

Meghan took on the role of supportive friend as she celebrated Tyler Perry’s significant achievements, as he was being recognised by the Paley Center For Media for his remarkable contributions to the media industry over the past three decades. Tyler is also the godparent to Meghan and Harry’s daughter Princess Lilibet.

Although, Meghan’s glamorous red carpet appearance with her close friend was in sharp contrast to the recent controversies surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The documentary titled “Harry: The Lost Prince,” aired earlier this week and saw millions tune in to watch the controversial programme. During the show Ben McBean, a veteran who was severely injured by a landmine in Afghanistan in 2008, shared his disappointment over Prince Harry’s comments about his family.

Ben, who shared a flight home with Harry from Afghanistan, didn’t hold back, stating: “I just thought, with him kind of whinging about his family and he was saying something about his brother pushing him over or something like that, I was just like, ‘Mate, just leave it out’… You and your brother had a little fisticuffs…but family’s family, you know.”

“If one of my friends fell out with his partner and started posting things on social media and saying my ex is this and that, I’d have told him to shut up as well.”

Additionally, the documentary criticises Harry and Meghan for struggling to get to know their neighbours in Montecito, California, where they live with their two children Archie and Lilibet.

Jack Royston of The Royal Report shared similar views on the Sussexes’ unsuccessful attempt to be “half in and half out” of the Royal Family—a concept that was reportedly rejected by the late Queen.

He stated: “If you have a situation where Harry and Meghan are earning huge amounts of money in Hollywood trading off their reputations, but then they’re also bolstering their reputations by working for the Queen – they’re able to present themselves on the world stage as being these working members of the royal family who are also available for a price.”

He continued: “That is a huge compromise to demand off the monarchy. If they were to be perceived to be promoting their commercial projects while representing the Queen, then that’s also… starting to border on corruption there because they should never be using the monarchy as a platform.”
