Former I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! winner Giovanna Fletcher confessed the “pressure” is mounting for current contestant Danny Jones as she shared her thoughts on the new voting system on the ITV show.

The 39-year-old appeared on the latest episode of BBC’s Saturday Kitchen to discuss her career and her time on the ITV reality programme back in 2020.

Discussing McFly singer Danny, who is currently braving it Down Under, Giovanna told presenter Matt Tebbutt that if Danny was crowned King of the Jungle, he would be following a lineage of winners as McFly star Dougie Poynter previously won as well as singer Matt Willis, who was once a part of the combined band, McBusted.

Giovanna, who is married to fellow McFly star Tom Fletcher, also won the show back in 2020. She said: “So the pressure is on him, it’s on Danny! But he’s been so amazing throughout this whole series.”

But she also shared further insight into how the new voting system could impact him too. Talking openly, she explained: “He’s in the final four, and the way the voting is done it’s very different. When I saw it the other night, when they first went in, I noticed that no one had numbers.

“And I was like where are their numbers?”, she added: “It’s all done differently now it’s through the app. You only get five votes and that’s it!

“So you can only vote for someone five times so it must have an effect. Because you can have hardcore fans and if you can only vote five times, then you can only vote five times.”

This week, I’m A Celeb caused uproar amongst viewers as they introduced another voting twist, reports the Express.

Earlier in the week, after hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly announced that the public vote had been cancelled, the campmates learned they would need to compete for immunity and their chance to take part in the iconic Cyclone trial. The camp had to split into two groups, and trials would need to be completed.

But fans were not too chuffed with the change and headed over to social media site Twitter, now X.

One viewer said: “Huge mistake. Cyclone should only be decided by public vote.” Another said: “Biggest mistake in the shows history,” as a third added: “This trial was a huge mistake and completely unfair.”

While another show watcher added: “Bad idea, should be the public who decide, major mistake doing it like this.”

Saturday Kitchen airs Saturdays from 9:30am on BBC One.
