Princess Eugenie reportedly missed Princess Catherine’s major comeback concert, but details surrounding her absence at the Together At Christmas carol event are unclear. Speculations suggest her no-show may be due to her dividing time between Portugal and the UK, a move that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are believed to have followed in order to maintain proximity to her and Britain.
GB News revealed that Eugenie’s spouse, Jack Brooksbank, is employed in Portugal with Michael Meldman’s Discovery Land Company. Prince Andrew’s second daughter wasn’t alone in skipping the celebratory gathering, with Harry and Meghan also absent.
Following their departure to California in 2020 amid rising Royal tensions, it’s been understood that the Sussexes acquired a Portuguese holiday property to strengthen ties with the UK. It was disclosed in October 2024 that they bought a £3.6million villa near Princess Eugenie.

A Royal insider informed the Express: “The villa in Portugal is more an investment than anything else and construction hasn’t even been completed yet.”
They added, “It hasn’t been purchased as a new home, but more as a holiday retreat and something they can put their money into to protect their assets.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, moved to the US in 2020 after stepping down from their Royal duties. They’ve since established a new life in the upscale coastal town of Montecito.
Despite the distance, they are thought to have maintained a close relationship with Princess Eugenie, who visited them in California in 2022 and even appeared in their Netflix documentary series. However, turning our attention back to Kate Middleton’s concert, it was Princess Beatrice, Eugenie’s older sister, who represented the York family at Westminster Abbey on Friday evening.
She was accompanied by her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, and his son from a previous relationship, Christopher Woolf (Wolfie). Zara Tindall and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, were also present.
