As a bustling city dweller who adores looking chic but loathes early starts, I’m perpetually on the hunt for gadgets that simplify and speed up my hairstyling routine. Given my long, naturally straight locks, I require a dryer that can deliver sleek results without consuming too much time.
So, when I noticed the HappyGoo Hair Dryer consistently topping Amazon’s bestseller lists and boasting nearly 2,500 five-star reviews, I was intrigued to see if it could live up to its reputation. Plus, it’s currently 40% off with a special promo code via Amazon — just click on ‘redeem offer’, so the price automatically reduces to £35.99 from £59.99.
This device is designed to style and dry hair swiftly, featuring smart ionic technology that helps minimise frizz and static, promising a salon-quality finish every time, reports the Liverpool Echo. It’s also worth noting its striking similarity to the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer, renowned for its sleek, futuristic design.

Naturally, I was thrilled when it arrived at my doorstep — even my short-haired mum couldn’t resist testing its versatility. Could this beauty gadget work for us and integrate smoothly into our hectic schedules?
My honest review of the Happy Goo Hair Dryer
In terms of aesthetics, the HappyGoo could easily be mistaken for the Super Sonic — it’s sleek and compact and sports a similar circular head. It’s also incredibly lightweight — lighter than any other dryer I’ve used before — which means no wrist ache from manoeuvring it around my head.
The device offers three heat settings — cold, warm and hot — along with two fan speeds, which proved useful depending on my hair styling needs. It also features a cold blast function, perfect for setting my hairstyle.
Initially, I was concerned that the highest heat setting wasn’t hot enough, fearing it would take too long to dry my entire head of hair. However, it was sufficiently warm to dry my long hair in under five minutes, thanks to its potent 2000W motor. It also quickly dried my mum’s short hair without causing any frizz.
I was particularly intrigued by its built-in ionisation feature, designed to leave hair smooth, soft and glossy. Honestly, I can’t fault it — after using it, my hair looked as if I’d just stepped out of a salon or styled it with my trusty ghds.
The dryer includes three attachments: two concentrator nozzles for precision drying and a diffuser for adding volume and defining natural curls. As neither my mum nor I have curly hair, we didn’t utilise the diffuser much, but the concentrator nozzles were excellent. They enabled me to focus on specific areas and comb through my hair as it dried, resulting in a sleek, straight finish.
Similarly, once dry, my mum’s hair appeared straight and healthy without much need for additional styling. This saved us time overall and removed the necessity for hair straighteners or curling tongs, giving our hair a break from intense heat. Even better, our hairstyles remained intact until day’s end.
Despite the effectiveness of the attachments, my mum and I found them a bit tricky to handle. They securely latch onto the hair dryer’s head but are angled in such a way that requires wrist twisting, which felt awkward and took some getting used to during styling.
Aside from this, I’m quite impressed with this handy hairdryer. It delivers sleek results with minimal effort, exactly what I need for those rushed mornings — and at a sale price of just £35.99, it’s a steal.
The HappyGoo Hair Dryer is available on Amazon here, but hurry if you’re interested, as there’s no telling when the sale will end. If you’re willing to splurge, you could opt for the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer, which sells for £329.99.
Alternatively, if you’re looking for something more budget-friendly, this Remington D5220 Pro Air Turbo Hair Dryer is £26 at Argos. The Remington Sapphire Luxe Hair Dryer is slightly more expensive, coming in at £35.
