Many fans are eagerly waiting to watch the return of Gavin and Stacey on Christmas Day after a five year hiatus.
The Barry based comedy first hit screens in 2007, and left viewers on a cliffhanger after the last Christmas special in 2019, with Nessa getting down on one knee and proposing to Smithy.
Writers Ruth Jones, who plays Nessa and James Corden who plays Smithy, have remained tight-lipped in regards to the plot lines and story for the episode, making sure nothing get spoilt before the show is aired.
Although in September, there was a juicy hint when the cast were all pictured in their wedding finery being driven to the church by Dave Coaches. Joanna Page, who plays Stacey, could be seen in a floral gown and headband, leading fans to believe she may be dressed as a bridesmaid or maid of honour.
And now, with the help of AI, Fruity Slots has unveiled its predictions for the much-anticipated events of Nessa and Smithy’s wedding day.
From Smithy’s sister Rudi potentially returning for the big day to Gavin consoling his best mate as he meets his bride-to-be at the end of the aisle, Fruity Slots teases what might be in store for the Shipman and West families this Christmas.
So here’s how they think it will pan out.
The wedding ceremony
The scene begins with Dave Coaches pulling up in his bus, honking loudly to signal the bridal party’s arrival at the church. Inside, there’s chaos as Pam fusses over her outfit, Mick adjusts his tie, and Gwen nervously checks her floral headband.
Gavin and Stacey are waiting inside together. Bryn oversees everything like a military operation. Nessa sits serenely in her wedding dress, completely unfazed, while Smithy looks visibly nervous, being consoled by Gavin.
The bus drops everyone off at the church, with Pam loudly complaining about the wrinkles in her suit, Mick muttering about missing his golf game, and Pete spilling a coffee on his tie.
Gwen beams proudly as she walks in with the dish she’s been guarding – now revealed to be a homemade wedding cake, not an omelette. Dave Coaches helps the bridesmaids and Nessa off the bus, offering Nessa a wink that she pretends not to notice.
Inside the church
The ceremony begins, with Bryn proudly standing as Nessa’s “maid of honour,” awkwardly holding a bouquet. Smithy walks in with Neil, who’s acting as his best man, the two sharing a touching moment as Smithy thanks Neil for “always having his back.”
During the vows, Nessa makes a heartfelt yet hilariously blunt speech about their complicated history, “Smithy, you ain’t perfect. But neither am I. And somehow, we’ve made it this far. So, let’s see if we can go a bit further, alright?”
The vicar keeps losing track of the script as Bryn continuously interrupts with unnecessary commentary. Pete and Dawn argue loudly during the vows, only to be shushed by Pam. Neil drops the rings, leading to a chaotic scramble under the pews to retrieve them.
The kiss
After a long pause, Smithy leans in for the kiss. The congregation erupts into cheers, with Pam loudly exclaiming, “Finally!”
Wedding speeches
Gavin delivers a touching speech about the importance of family, bringing Pam to tears. Bryn’s speech goes wildly off-script as he recounts a completely unrelated story about a camping trip in 2008. Nessa stands up to say a few words, ending with her classic line, “It’s been a long road, but here we are. And let’s face it, I’m fabulous.”
Rudi takes over the karaoke machine, performing a chaotic rendition of Livin’ on a Prayer. Meanwhile, Pete and Dawn slow dance, only to trip over each other and crash into the buffet table, as Mick and Pam share a slow dance, only for Mick to reveal he’s been hiding a golf ball in his pocket all evening. Gwen and Pam share a moment of mutual appreciation, with Pam admitting Gwen’s cake is “almost as good as one of mine.”
One last toast
As the party winds down, everyone gathers outside the hall. Snow begins to fall as Bryn proposes a final toast to the entire group, reflecting on their shared journey and the importance of family.
Nessa and Smithy exchange a knowing look, acknowledging the beginning of their new chapter. The camera pans out as the group raises their glasses, their laughter echoing into the snowy night. Gwen gathers everyone for a family photo, instructing Mick to “stop looking so miserable” as he reluctantly agrees.
Stacey and Gavin share a quiet moment, reflecting on their journey as a couple and promising to make more time for each other.
Bryn delivers a heartfelt toast: “To all of us—flawed, funny, fabulous. Here’s to family, and here’s to us.”
