Who remembers the joy of revising for GCSE exams?

It might have been a few years, or even decades ago, but certain things do really stick in your memory. It’s common for 14-16-year-olds to sit GCSE exams, although it can be taken later in life.

The time to take to complete the exams depends on the school, although it’s generally between 2-3 years. In college, there’s a fast-track option to finish them in a year. But if you fancy a trip down memory lane, see if you can solve these GCSE questions…

On TikTok, user @freegcsemathsteacher with 2.5million followers, recently shared a series of questions. Some are straightforward, while others might require you to think outside the box and use your knowledge from school.

There are 9 maths questions, although we’re only sharing the first six. And there are a few which you would probably answer within seconds, but others not so much. So can you solve them?

Questions:

1. Write 180 minutes in hours.

2. Write 0.73 as a percentage.

3. Work out 10 x (3 + 5)

4. Write down a prime number that is between 20 and 30

5. Find a number that is exactly half way between 7 and 15.

6. Harry is planning a holiday for 7 days. Here are the costs for the holiday for each person:

  • Travel = £150
  • Hotel = £50 for each day
  • Spending money = £250

Work out the total cost of the holiday for 4 people for 7 days.

The remainder of the questions in the GCSE paper involve graphs but you can check out the TikTok video to try them yourself. Since the video was posted, it garnered 13,900 likes and hundreds of comments.

One said: “My brain hurts,” while another added: “I learned so much in this short video than my years in school, keep it real.” And a third chimed in: “So well explained.” Then a fourth posted: “I had to ask my six-year-old because I couldn’t figure it out.”

But others seemed to find the questions easy as a viewer bragged: “Even my cat can do this.” And a second commented: “Are GCSEs really that easy?” While a third wondered: “How do people fail this?”
