Police in Dumfries and Galloway have issued important advice to help keep burglars at bay during the festive period.
Christmas time can make homes and flats a tempting target for robberies as they are full of presents or people are away.
But a few simple steps can ensure your Christmas remains merry.

Castle Douglas Community Policing Constable, Chloe Ellis, said: “Make sure the only visitors in your house tonight are the ones you want. Protect your property.
“Double check that all your windows and doors are locked before heading out, or going to bed.
“If you’ve got a house alarm, make sure it’s set.
“Make sure you don’t leave any gifts in view of windows.
“Keep cash in your home to a minimum.”
