BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – The Bluefield Beavers fell by just three points to the Charleston Catholic Irish in the Class AA state championship a season ago. Now, while the Beavers hope to get back there, it’ll be a harder road this season.
The Beavers have to replace a star-studded senior class with six seniors gone from the program that helped bring Bluefield to two state championship appearances. One key figure coming back is junior Jase Smith who missed half of last season with an ACL injury. The team is also having to replace former head coach Buster Large, but former assistant Tony Webster is ready for the challenge of taking over the role to help keep bringing the Beavers to Charleston.
