Fire crews raced to fight a massive blaze after a car “exploded” this morning on a quiet residential street.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene after residents in Millerhill, Midlothian, were woken up to a “huge bang” at around 7.40am as a car was found engulfed in flames. The Cocklerow Gardens residential car park was cordoned off as firefighters tackled the black Mini vehicle inferno – which also scorched another car next to it.
One eyewitness told Edinburgh Live: “I woke up this morning to my dogs barking and banging, looked out my window at around 7.30am and saw a car exploding on fire outside our house in the residential car park. Very shocked to see this in this neighbourhood and at this time in the morning.”

The aftermath saw foam surrounding the two cars, with the black vehicle being left severely damaged while the white car next to his has been left scorched and windows smashed. There have been no reports of any casualties.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue said: “We received multiple calls regarding a vehicle fire at around 7.40am on Friday, December 13. We have mobilised one appliance and they are still at the scene. There are no casualties.”
