Friends fans have been debating who the funniest character is on the iconic sitcom, which ran from 1994 to 2004.
The main cast included talents like Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Perry, as well as later additions such as Paul Rudd and Tom Selleck. However, a consensus has finally been reached.
A Twitter user, now known as X, @BenShh1, has gone viral for their opinion that Ross, despite being annoying, is actually the funniest character by a wide margin.
The tweet has garnered over 32,000 likes, suggesting many agree with this viewpoint. Fans were quick to praise actor David Schwimmer’s commitment to the role.
Many are now trying to identify the moment they realised Ross Geller was the funniest Friends character. One fan noted: “After his 2nd divorce he literally goes insane for the season and never goes back to normal.”
Another praised Schwimmer’s talent for physical comedy. One fan has pinpointed why David Schwimmer stands out in Friends, noting: “Ross being the funniest is very much connected to the fact that David Schwimmer’s comedy range is the most broad among 6 performers – he can find the joke or make something absolutely unfunny into comedy gold with unexpected line delivery, physicality, facial expressions, etc.”
The character Ross is now believed to be identified as the “most hated” due to the extreme comedic scenarios he endures. A commentator pointed out: “David Schwimmer doesn’t get enough recognition for his comedic timing on friends because people hated Ross SO much.”
