BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – The historic Hotel Thelma in Bluefield will be restored for future use as apartments after it was announced the Hotel Thelma Apartments were awarded a grant.

The announcement was made by the Bluefield Arts and Revitalization Corporation and the Hotel Thelma Project Corporation. The loan, awarded by the Federal Home Loan Bank Pittsburg, totals $1.5 million dollars under the Affordable Housing Program.

The application for the grant was sponsored by MCNB Banks.

The money will be used to restore and redevelop the Hotel Thelma, and create 10 affordable, healthy, and safe studio and one-bedroom apartments for seniors. There will also be space for a restaurant in the building.
