Danny Jones has disclosed that he disregarded medical advice from the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! team after his jungle victory, which led to him feeling extremely ill.

The McFly frontman was declared king of the jungle last Sunday, outshining TV star Coleen Rooney, who finished as runner-up, and Reverend Richard Coles, who came in third.

Danny’s win in Australia marks his third significant triumph this year, having previously won on The Masked Singer and witnessed his protégé Ava, whom he coached with McFly colleague Tom Fletcher, secure victory on ITV’s The Voice in October.

The 38-year-old has called it a “crazy year” acknowledging that he had intended to take a six-month break to move house ahead of his tour next year but couldn’t resist the opportunity to join I’m A Celeb.

His wife Georgia took charge of the house move while he was competing down under, reports the Mirror.

After clinching the title, Danny turned to social media for the first time since his victory to share his thanks. Sharing an image with his I’m A Celeb 2024 campmates on Instagram, Danny penned: “A message from Danny… This was one of the hardest and most amazing things I have ever done in my life. I would have never been able to have the incredible experience I’ve had, without these people. The campmates made it for me.”

He also extended: “A huge congratulations to my fellow finalists Col and Revvo,” before teasing his return: “I’ll be back on my phone and socials very soon Love you all.”

The glitterati were swift to heap praise, with Oti Mabuse warmly uttering: “Jungle Family.”

A thrilled Maura Higgins exclaimed: “We love you,” and Danny’s jungle partner Melvin Odoom added his sentiment: “Camp Famalam! ”

Post-jungle endeavours keep Danny busy; he recently divulged ignoring medical diet advice post-show. His sun-drenched photo came with the caption: “Very happy king! Still can’t believe that you guys all voted for me. Feels surreal. It’s a proper top of the world feeling. Can’t wait to see you all in the UK soon.”

In his videos, Danny admitted to indulging after the show: “Thought you’d might like to know something… When I came out of the jungle, I had two breakfasts. I went a bit mad. I had a banana bread sandwich with fruit, cream and maple syrup, it was amazing, and I also ordered a croissant with eggs, halloumi, avocado – epic! I had a right nice cuppa tea with that, then I had a vanilla milkshake.”

He added, recounting the aftermath: “Here’s where I slipped up, the doc had warned me, ‘Go slow and small’ and did I listen? Not one bit. Paid for it later that night I was terribly ill, up all night. The next morning I took it easy with some fruit. And today? Feeling much better..”

Danny divulged more about his current diet and persistent sweet tooth, admitting, “All in all, I think I’m through the other side. My stomach has shrunk massively but I feel like I’m eating better. Last night I had a bit of pasta, I didn’t eat it all, I shared it with my mum.”

He also noted: “I can’t eat a full bowl of pasta yet. I’m quite enjoying that to be honest with you because I used to eat too much anyway but it’s just the milkshakes and the crisps and the chocolate. It’s just going down so well. So I’ll let you know how today goes.”
