CHARMCO, W.Va. – The West Virginia Mountaineers officially named Rich Rodriguez the football program’s 36th head coach, 17 years later after Rodriguez left the program for the University of Michigan.

Owen Schmitt, a former player for Rodriguez from 2005-07, who played in the NFL for five seasons and currently is an assistant coach at Greenbrier West High School, talked about how excited he is for Rodriguez to return, the 2007 season for West Virginia, and parts of Rodriguez’s coaching style Schmitt has translated to his coaching philosophy.
