AUGUSTA, Maine (WMTW) – The law enforcement community in Maine gathered to honor one of its own who died in a tragic traffic accident.
Sergeant Jacob Wolterbeek, with the Biddeford Police Department, died after crashing into a stopped box truck on a bridge connecting Maine and Mew Hampshire.
He was driving home early Thursday after working a shift.
Law enforcement from across the state took part in Thursday morning’s procession to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office.
Authorities stood on overpasses along the route on the Maine Turnpike to pay their respects.
The 41-year-old sergeant was an 18-year veteran of the force.
He leaves behind a wife and three young kids.
