Strictly Come Dancing have crowned their winner for the 2024 series.
The BBC show aired its glittering finale this evening, with the four remaining couples – Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola, Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec, Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell and JB Gill and Lauren Oakley – taking to the dancefloor once again.
This evening, they all performed three more dances to try and lift the Glitterball Trophy, with each of them picking their favourite routine, the judges picking their favourite routine and then a very special Show Dance.
Tonight, Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell were crowned the winner of the show. They were speechless as they collected the Glitterball Trophy, raising it above their heads in celebration as the others rallied around them.
JB and Lauren danced their Judges’ Pick – the Viennese Waltz to Let’s Go Fly A Kite from Mary Poppins – whilst they picked their Samba to Mas Que Nada. For their show dance, they did a dance to a Motown medley.
Chris and Dianne’s judge’s pick was the Couple’s Choice to Instant Karma! (We All Shine On) whilst their own choice of their favourite dance was the Waltz to You’ll Never Walk Alone. They then danced their Show Dance to You Get What You Give.
For Sarah and Vito, their favourite dance was their Cha Cha to Like A Prayer by Madonna whilst the judges picked their American Smooth to Proud by Heather Small. Their Show Dance was to Cabaret.
Tasha and Aljaž were given their Couple’s Choice to What About Us to dance to again, whilst they chose their American Smooth to Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi. Their Show Dance was to Sing, Sing, Sing by Benny Goodman.
There was also a very special performance from BRIT Award winner Raye. Speaking about the series, Claudia said: “This feels like it’s been an amazing year for Strictly. The cast are simply spectacular.
“They’ve worked so hard and they do it with real wit and enthusiasm. Our professionals are extraordinary and all four couples are outstanding. All our dancers are back together this Saturday and I can’t wait to see them. I’m going to try and persuade Paul Merson to do it again in 2025. How can we do Strictly without him?”
Her co-host Tess Daly added: “The Judges have been amazing once again this year – highlights include the brilliant costumes on theme weeks who can forget Anton as Rod Stewart on our debut Icons week and Shirley flying in as Mary Poppins for Movie week. I love them all for their uniquely different viewpoints.
“It genuinely feels like this final is going to be unmissable as it’s just so unpredictable- none of us can guess who’s going to be lifting that glitter ball trophy it’s literally anyone’s game and it’s all down to the public vote a very fitting way to celebrate our 20th year.”
