A body has been found in the search for a missing skier in the Cairngorms.

Sam Burns, from Aviemore, was last in touch with his friends yesterday, Friday, December, 13, at around 11.30am when he was skiing alone in the Cairngorms mountain range. However, the 40-year-old had not returned to his van parked within the Cairngorm Mountain car park.

Officers from Police Scotland believed Sam had planned to ski Y Gulley or Diagonal Gulley from the Cairngorm Plateau.

Today, Saturday, December 14, at around 11am the body of a man was found in the Cairngorms, and although formal identification is yet to take place, the family of Sam Burns has been informed. Police are not classifying his death as suspicious and are submitting a report to the Procurator Fiscal.
