Two elementary schools joined forces on Friday night, Dec. 13, to perform a concert of holiday songs.

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. -Two elementary schools set to unite next year joined forces a little earlier than planned to perform a holiday concert under the bright lights.

Students from Brushfork and Bluewell Elementary Schools banded together to sing winter songs at the Holiday of Lights on Friday, Dec. 13th.

The event gave students a chance to mingle ahead of the upcoming merging between the pair of schools. Starting next school year, the two will be merged into Timberwood Elementary.

The two principals for the current schools say they are excited for the merger, and happy with the turnout of the concert.

“I think it shows their excitement of being able to be together and become Timberwood, and it shows their amazing support for their community and our students,” said Emily Smith, Principal of Brushfork Elementary School.

“I believe that it also reflects how the Bluewell [and] Brushfork community is anyway, because they’re kind of in one, and it’s always felt that way, so now it’s nice to make it official,” added Sarah Grose, Principal of Bluewell Elementary School.
