A man has died after a crash on a country road.
The crash, which involved a grey Range Rover, happened on the B6357 near Annan in Dumfries and Galloway at about 8.25pm on Friday. The man, 22, who was a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another passenger, a 39-year-old man, was taken to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle as a precaution.
The driver of the car, a 38-year-old man, was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment.
Police said he was later arrested in connection with alleged road traffic offences and released pending further inquiries. They have appealed for information.
Sergeant Wayne Carnochan said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“We are asking anyone who may have information to contact us. The road where the crash happened connects the town of Annan with the A74 motorway at Eaglesfield. If you were on this road around the time of the crash and have dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation then please contact us.”
