After months of twirling across the dancefloor, one celebrity will lift the infamous Glitterball trophy on Saturday night. BBC fans are set for a treat as the finalists are set to impress with three performances, including a stunning show dance.
The competition was fierce last weekend when JLS’s JB Gill led with a remarkable score of 79, followed closely by Tasha Ghouri who accumulated 75 for her pair of routines.
But it’s all to play for as they dazzle once more in the hopes of winning over judges and viewers alike. Reflecting on this years stellar series, Anton Du Beke remarked: “It’s been such a magical series this year, up there with the best ever! As always, I had a fabulous time at Blackpool and I’ve enjoyed the themed weeks enormously.
“Strictly Come Dancing has been such a major part of my life for 20 years and I feel very privileged to have been here, alongside Tess and Craig, since day one.”
As the grand finale commenced, the professional dancers graced the stage with an outstanding group number. BBC audiences immediately recognised Amy Dowden’s presence, sparking a flurry of social media reactions, reports the Mirror.
Fans were vocal on Twitter with one saying: “Makes me sad to see Amy there without JB but so happy for Lauren.” Another praised: “Lovely to see Amy in the pro number.”
Further comments included: “Yay, Amy dancing at the final #Strictly” while another simply exclaimed: “Amy’s here!” Someone else echoed the sentiment: “So amazing seeing Amy back on the dance floor.”
In a state of puzzlement, another viewer queried: “Amy in the pro number.. I thought she wasn’t well enough to do the rest of the series.” Meanwhile, another shared: “Great to see Amy in the professional dance #strictly.”
Similarly, another enthusiast voiced their preference: “I love this opening dance but I wish Amy was in the Blue too.”
The group routine had viewers watch as the finalists and their professional partners donned blue attire, while the remaining dancers shone in golden outfits. This sparked conversations among fans, with some feeling that Amy ought to have been dressed in blue alongside the others.
Originally teamed up with Amy for the series, JB faced a twist during the show when the pro dancer had to step back on account of an injury.
Having taken a hiatus after her breast cancer diagnosis, this season heralded Amy’s comeback to the dance floor. When she had to withdraw earlier, Lauren Oakley filled the gap, becoming JB’s new partner.
On reflecting what has taken him by surprise during the contest, JB reflected: “It’s intense, but it’s made me realise how versatile people can be.
“Lauren always says, ‘When you think you have nothing left to give, you’ve actually got another 40%’ That’s something I’ve been reminded of. Oh and that Lauren is an incredible dancer! She doesn’t like to admit though but she’s sick! ” he added, praising his current dance partner.
The question on everyone’s lips now – will JB clinch the coveted Glitterball trophy this year?
