A woman has tragically died in a Wetherspoons beer garden following an incident in Edinburgh yesterday evening.
Police and paramedics raced to St John’s Road in the Corstorphine area of the city following a medical matter at around 3.55pm. Locals reported seeing six police vehicles and two ambulances outside the White Lady pub. A 64-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later, reports Edinburgh Live.
She passed away in the pub’s beer garden after collapsing and had been staying in the hotel since Sunday, Wetherspoons confirmed. However, there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.55pm on Friday, 13 December, 2024, we were called to assist with a medical matter in the St John’s Road area of Edinburgh. A 64-year-old woman was pronounced dead a short time later. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
A spokesperson for Wetherspoon said: “Wetherspoon can confirm that a lady passed away in the pub’s beer garden. The lady collapsed in the beer garden. She had not been served in the pub today. Paramedics arrived within two minutes but couldn’t revive her and she was pronounced dead at 4pm.
“The Pub was closed and customers asked to leave, with a member of staff remaining on site to handle the situation. emptied out, only one staff member G4 John Higgins dealt with the incident. The lady had been staying in the pub’s hotel since Sunday but had checked out this morning. CID advised that the pub could re-open, and it did so at 6.30pm. Wetherspoon and all staff at the pub send their condolences and sympathy to the family and friends of the lady.”
