SALEM, Va. – The Graham G-men left 2023 with a bitter taste in their mouths losing in the state semifinals, and wanted to avenge it this time around.
The G-men came into Saturday looking for state championship No. 6 and to cap off an undefeated season at 15-0 against the Strasburg Rams in the VHSL Class 2 state championship.
The G-men got out the gates firing, taking a quick 14-0 lead from scores by Gabe Lilly and Cambel Fix. In the second quarter, they’d add a Dylan Nash field goal and Blake Graham’s 55-yard score to go into halftime leading 24-0.
To start the third, the Rams would put a drive together to make it 24-8 capped off by a two-point conversion. However, another Lilly touchdown within the first minute of the fourth sealed the deal for Graham to win 31-8.
Graham captures it sixth state championship, ending the season 15-0 for the second time ever, and head coach Tony Palmer wins his third state championship as a coach (won one as a player).
