A teacher has candidly shared the gifts that those in her profession “don’t want” to receive at Christmas.

As the festive break approaches, children and teachers are looking forward to some well-earned time off.

To spread festive joy, it’s not uncommon for parents to present their child’s teacher with a token of appreciation. While cards are a traditional choice, some parents opt for more elaborate gifts.

However, one outspoken teacher has listed three presents they would prefer to avoid, sparking debate among some who have labelled her as “ungrateful”. Natalie, an ex-kindergarten teacher known as @primaryfocus on TikTok, has stirred up conversation with a video that has garnered over 30,000 likes.

She explained: “If you’ve been in the classroom long enough you will have gotten one of these ‘gifts’ that’s not quite the blessing you hoped for. Here’s three gifts that teachers don’t want.”

She started with: “Number one – anything in a Victoria Secret bag,” noting the awkwardness and unwanted scent associated with such presents.

Natalie also highlighted how certain gifts can be disruptive, like unexpected treats that may cause more chaos than kindness.

She elaborated: “Listen, it’s cool that you want to get everybody donuts but you need to ask ahead when and if the teacher is okay with that, because what it is for us is a giant sugar high from all of our kids and then the sugar crash.

“It’s just way too much sugar, especially for the little guys,” the teacher opined on gifting candy.

Regarding the final “gift” of unwanted attention from parents, Natalie shared: “They don’t want your advances. I’ve had a few dads try to come onto me and it is uncomfortable. Remember, you’ve got the entire school year to work together. Maybe just go online and find someone.”

Responses to the former teacher’s candid revelations were mixed. One said: “So negative. Be grateful they got anything” while another wrote: “Maybe I just get them nothing then lol.”

A third wrote: “Ungrateful is yucky” but others said they agreed: “Are these comments joking? I agree with the video lol”

While another person said: “this one would make sense lol There are some really ungrateful teachers so I quit after my kids gifts got made fun of but your list is accurate.”

Another user suggested teachers pass off the ‘sugar high’ by giving out sweet treats before they go home. They said: “That’s why you pass the treats out right before dismissal.”
