Two pedestrians were struck by a car in the west end of Glasgow on Sunday morning.

Emergency services raced to Byres Road in the Hillhead area of the city at around 11.35am following reports of a crash involving a car and two people. Images from the scene show a damaged Audi TT sports car on the pavement on the busy shopping street, reports Glasgow Live.

The car smashed into concrete street furniture close to a nearby Christmas tree. Police, firefighters and paramedics attended the scene, opposite the Byres Road Waitrose. A section of the area remains closed.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 11.35am on Sunday, 15 December, 2024, officers were called to a report of a crash involving a car and two pedestrians in Byres Road, Glasgow.

Emergency services are in attendance and a section of the pavement is closed at Vinicombe Street while enquiries continue. People are asked to avoid the area.”
