Strike: The Ink Black Heart is set to air soon, featuring Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott in another challenging case.

It’s been a two-year wait since the fifth series, Troubled Blood, was broadcast on BBC One, drawing over eight million viewers throughout its run.

JK Rowling’s sixth instalment in the Strike novel series has now been adapted for the screen and is slated for release in the lead-up to Christmas.

The cast of Strike: The Ink Black Heart includes Tom Burke, known for his roles in The Souvenir, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and War And Peace, reprising his role as the troubled private detective Cormoran Strike.

He is accompanied by Holliday Grainger, celebrated for her performances in Animals, The Capture and Lady Chatterley’s Lover, who returns as his trusted colleague and crime-solving partner Robin Ellacott.

Ruth Sheen from Unforgotten and It’s A Sin reprises her role as Strike’s office manager Pat, alongside Payback’s Jack Greenlees as Sam Barclay and Peaky Blinders’ Natasha O’Keeffe as Charlotte.

Caitlin Innes Edwards, known for Hanna, will once again portray Ilsa, a lawyer and lifelong friend of Strike’s.

Several new faces are joining the cast for this sixth series, all of whom have starred in popular shows in recent years. T

/hese include Bodyguard’s David Westhead, Sanditon’s Emma Fielding, Rivals’ Christian McKay, Ridley’s Tupele Dorgu and Time and Industry star James Nelson-Joyce.

How to watch Strike: The Ink Black Heart

The show premieres on Monday, December 16, at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

The second episode will air the following day, Tuesday, December 17, at the same time while the final two episodes will follow the same pattern the next week.

However, for those who can’t wait, all four episodes will be available as a box set on BBC iPlayer from December 16.
