Coffee kings Starbucks are set to close their shop in Dumfries.

Their shop in the high street opened more than a decade ago.

However, the last latte will be served up in January, with staff set to be deployed elsewhere.

A spokesperson for Starbucks said: “We regularly review our portfolio to ensure our stores are relevant for our customers.

“Our store in Dumfries High Street will close on January 1 and we are in the process of working with our partners to offer them positions at nearby stores.

“We thank our customers for their loyalty over the years and invite them to find their nearest store, Starbucks Coffee, Annan Road, Dumfries DG1 3SE, and to see others on the Starbucks store locator.”

The Dumfries Starbucks branch was opened in 2013 by Queen of the South players Kevin Holt and Patrick Slattery.

Twelve staff were employed when it originally opened.
