Doctors have confirmed the cause of Max George‘s heart problem after the 36-year-old singer shared the concerning news he may be forced to spend Christmas in hospital.

Fans have been left concerned after The Wanted star was rushed to hospital last week after becoming “really unwell”. Further tests revealed he has heart problems which require further examination and open heart surgery.

Doctors have now discovered the cause of his heart condition following on from his update from his hospital bed. The singer explained he was suffering from a 2:1 atrioventricular block, which may result in a pacemaker being fitted.

In a new update he told his followers: “I hope you are having a good night, spoke to the nurse earlier and good news is I get to have a scan earlier than I thought.”

He added: “So that’s really really good, and it’s called a 2:1 block, that’s what we know at the moment, going to try and find out the cause before determining how we treat it, wether a pacemaker, defibrillator, or something else.”

An Atrioventricular block is a disorder that occurs when electrical impulses are delayed or blocked from reaching the ventricles. The cause of his health condition has been labelled as a mystery.

Max previously said: “We’ve cancelled out a few things, like alcohol for example I’ve not had a drink for four-and-a-half years so it’s not that.”

The singer, remaining positive continued: “So that’s where here I am at, feeling OK tonight, City game didn’t help much,” after Manchester City lost to United.

The new update comes just hours after Max revealed he is set to undergo open heart surgery to have the device fitted, explaining it stops the heart from beating too slowly after they found an issue with the ‘bottom part of his heart’.

“So latest is that 100 per cent I’m going to have a little friend put in here at some point,” he detailed as he pointed at his chest. “Erm, I’ve got an issue with the bottom part of my heart, it’s called a block. The tricky bit is what I have put in because until I have further tests we don’t know what caused it.”
