A variety of major supermarket chains will be reducing the cost of Christmas vegetables to just 15p this week, and we have all the information you need.

December is often an expensive month, with gift shopping eating into our budgets. Which is exactly why a list of retailers often run offers to help make the festive dinner a little more affordable.

The price war on fresh festive veggies usually kicks off on the last week of the month, with staples we all know and love such as potatoes, carrots, swede and sprouts reduced in the last few days of the Christmas build-up.

Sainsbury’s and Tesco will be kicking off the annual 15p veg war this year from Wednesday, December 18. This will be followed by Aldi, Lidl and Asda, all which are confirmed to go live the following day on Thursday, December 19.

Since the deal is usually only available while stocks last, we have provided below all the key dates and information you need to know from all the supermarket’s confirmed to be running the offer this year.

Sainsbury’s

When: December 18-24

Sainsbury’s will be dropping the cost of its popular fresh Christmas veggies to 15p this week from Wednesday, although there is a catch, as you will need a Nectar card to get the discount.

Those who are members will find the likes of white potatoes, cabbage, carrots, parsnips and swede included in the offer when they scan their Nectar card at the checkout.

Tesco

When: December 18 – 25

Tesco’s price war also kicks off this week on the same day as Sainsbury’s. While many offers tend to end on Christmas Eve, the supermarket has confirmed its deal will be running until Christmas Day.

Also similar to Sainsbury’s, the festive deal will only be available for Clubcard members. The deal has reduced seven veggie must-haves reduced in price, saving loyalty members up to an impressive 89 percent.

Shoppers will find these staples in store and online – Carrots (1kg), All Rounder Potatoes (2kg), Brussel Sprouts (500g), Parsnips (500g), Broccoli, Swede and Cabbage.

Aldi

When: December 19-24

Aldi’s hugely popular ‘Super Six’ campaign officially returns to stores this week, with the offer available until Christmas Eve this year.

Included in savvy deal is a selection of fresh vegetables such as white potatoes (2kg), carrots (1kg), parsnips (500g), broccoli, red and white cabbage, Brussels sprouts (500g).

Lidl

When: December 19-24

Also running its own 15p veg prices will be rival Lidl, with the German supermarket’s deal also going live in stores on Thursday, December 19.

Included in the money-saving deal will be British Brussel sprouts (500g), British parsnips (500g), Echalion Shallots (300g), British swede and white potatoes (2kg).

Asda

When: December 19-24

Asda’s own fresh veggies will be reduced to 15p from Thursday this week both in stores and online.

Key Christmas side staples included in the offer this year will be carrots (1kg), Brussel sprouts (300g), broccoli (360g), parsnips (500g) and also potatoes (2kg).
