Royal Variety Performance viewers were all left highly disappointed with this year’s show.
The pre-recorded event took place last month, but aired to the nation on Sunday evening (December 15), with Amanda Holden and Alan Carr as the hosts.
King Charles was among the crowd at the Royal Albert Hall, as they were treated to performances from a star-studded line-up including Sophie Ellis-Bexter, the cast of The Devil Wears Parada and Lorraine Kelly‘s Change and Check Choir led by Marti Pellow, reports the Mirror.
But ITV viewers were not happy with this year’s show as they took to social media just minutes after it started, to all say the same thing.
Taking to Twitter one fan said: “Amanda Holden, no thanks #RoyalVarietyPerformance.” A second added: “Dreadful presenters #RoyalVarietyPerformance.”
As a third person wrote: “Well, Alan Carr and Amanda Holden are absolutely dreadful. This opening is so awkward. #RoyalVarietyPerformance.”
However, others were impressed with the duo, with someone writing: “Alan Carr is hilarious. & Amanda Holden isn’t looking too bad either.” Another added: “Love Amanda and Alan together.”
Alan previously hosted the Royal Variety Performance alone in 2021 but was joined this year by Amanda.
Speaking about hosting the annual event for the first time, Amanda stated: “It truly is such an honour to be hosting the Royal Variety Performance this year.
“I’m still pinching myself! This is a dream job and Alan is a true friend, we are already bursting with ideas and excitement, it’s going to be such a fun night!
“I’ve worked on Britain’s Got Talent for 18 years and have been so proud watching all our winners perform for the Royal Family. This year will be no different, so in the words of Sydnie Christmas, let’s av it!”

Alan said: “I am completely thrilled to be asked back to host the Royal Variety Performance so soon, what a compliment and an honour! To be able to host this magical evening with my best friend and tv wife Amanda Holden is the icing on the cake for me. If we have half as much fun as we did three years ago, well we are all in for a real treat.”
