Luxury Scots hotel Crossbasket Castle has revealed the opening date of its new luxury development and – first of its kind in Scotland – destination restaurant and cocktail bar following a £20million investment.
Set to welcome guests from Sunday, March 16 2025, the impressive new five-star hotel, in High Blantyre on the outskirts of Glasgow, sits within the grand estate of the historic castle and sees the addition of 40 upscale bedrooms alongside a brand-new entertainment-led dining experience, overseen by legendary Michelin star chef Michel Roux.
Once complete, the venue will have capacity for an additional 35,000 visitors each year and provide over 50 jobs for the local area, delivering a projected economic boost to the South Lanarkshire economy of £5m per annum.
Located within 14 acres of enchanting and pristine grounds, Crossbasket Castle has a timeless elegance and charm. Famed as one of Scotland’s leading luxury wedding destinations, the extensive expansion marks the next chapter in its captivating history, as it promises to add something entirely unique to the luxury hotel market.
Every interior-designed aspect of the new hotel has been precisely overseen by owner Alison Timoney to ensure elegance within even the smallest of detail.
From the bespoke handcrafted furniture that adorns all the rooms, to the exquisite materials chosen to instil a feeling of opulence and luxury, the interiors combine a colour palette that complements the beauty of the surrounding tranquil landscape.
Consisting of two grand suites, four junior suites, eight deluxe rooms and twenty-six classic double/twin rooms, the new hotel is the result of years of meticulous planning.
Within the new restaurant and cocktail bar Trocadero’s, guests can expect to be transported to a magical bygone era that promises the best top music entertainment acts, immersive dining experiences and crafted cocktail and drinks offerings.
The hand-selected team exist to bring a level of entertainment and service which is set to be incomparable to anything else already on offer in Scotland.
Taking its name from the beloved 1950s dance hall in the local town of Hamilton, Trocadero’s boasts one of the most sophisticated live performance set-ups in Britain. The advanced sound stage houses a state-of-the-art Cadac sound desk and Funktion 1 speakers as part of its technical system.
This complements the quality detailed throughout the development, positioning Trocadero’s as a sought-after stage for both world-renowned and emerging top-quality artists and musicians, who are chosen to perform upon it.
The extraordinary project is the vision of entrepreneurial and philanthropic owners Alison and Steve Timoney, who took over ownership of Crossbasket Castle in 2011.
Alison Timoney said: “We are very excited to be announcing an opening date of March 16, 2025 for the new 40-bed hotel and Trocadero’s.
“A tribute to the elegance and allure of a bygone era, we wanted to create a destination where guests could escape the ordinary and immerse themselves in a world of glamour and sophistication, whilst enjoying the full experience that only the finest live music and entertainment can provide.
“We have an incredibly talented team, who have worked in some of the most respected five-star venues in the world and have been hand chosen to bring this unrivalled experience to us here in Scotland.”
Graeme Green, Managing Director of Crossbasket Castle, added: “We have taken exceptional care of all the finer details, and it is thrilling to be upon the moment where we are about to open our doors, and welcome our first guests. Every aspect has been meticulously orchestrated to deliver an unparalleled experience and our entire team are immensely proud of what they are part of.
“Be assured that Crossbasket Castle is going to be the pinnacle of hotel excellence in Scotland.”
It will also prove an exciting destination for international visitors looking to experience something different on their trip to Scotland, supporting the country’s appeal within the luxury travel market.
The luxury Four Angels Spa, with its own bespoke product line, hand-crafted by a local Scottish artisan, will open at Crossbasket Castle in Autumn 2025, alongside two new luxurious eco-cottages that are set to create additional private havens within the castle’s 14-acre estate.
