A 25-year-old man is critically injured after being struck by a car in Wishaw.

Police say “extensive enquiries” into the crash are being carried out following the horror incident on Friday evening.

Emergency services raced to the scene on Castlehill Road, Overtown, in the North Lanarkshire town at around 6.45pm on December 13.

The pedestrian was rushed to hospital and his condition is described as critical.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.45pm on Friday, December 13 we were called to a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Castlehill Road, Wishaw.

“Emergency services attended and the 25-year-old male pedestrian was taken to hospital.

“His condition is described as critical.

“Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service was contacted for comment.
