Big-hearted staff at HMP & YOI Stirling are helping to spread some festive cheer after donating to a charity collection.
The collection has been organised by officer Grant Livingstone for the benefit of the Forth Valley Royal children’s ward, so the kids there can have special wrapped gifts available to be handed over by Santa.
Grant has collected more than 285 toys and 155 books, with donations from staff so large that some will be kept behind for birthdays and other special occasions for youngsters on the unit throughout 2025.
It is the second year in a row that Grant has organised a donation, with the 2023 collection securing 135 toys – but the staff have gone further this time around.
Grant said: “I do not like the thought of children waking up without a Christmas presents and the children’s ward rely purely on donations.
“I really enjoy helping people and making a difference and I am delighted to give over so many gifts to this fantastic place.”
Seonad Hopkins, play specialist at NHS Forth Valley, said: “A huge thank you to Mr Livingstone, being in hospital can be a frightening time for children and their families, especially at this time of year.
“This incredible donation of toys and books will help our staff spread a little Christmas magic, ensuring every baby, child, and young person in the Children’s Ward over Christmas receives a special gift.”
