LONGVILLE, Minn. (KVLY/Gray News) – Officials have identified the 18-year-old who died when he was riding in an ATV that broke through ice on a frozen lake in rural Minnesota.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office identified him as Blake Herman, 18, of Brainerd, Minnesota.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to the scene on the evening of Dec. 9 at Blackwater Lake in Longville.
The sheriff said an ATV with two people on it went through the ice, and both people went in the water.
Deputies were able to rescue a 20-year-old man from the water, and he was flown to a hospital in St. Cloud.
Officials said he is expected to make a full recovery.
The search continued all evening and into the next day for Herman. Officials said his body was pulled from the lake around 1 p.m. on Dec. 10.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Herman’s family with funeral expenses.
“Blake was a bright young man with a kind heart and an infectious smile,” the GoFundMe reads. “He touched the lives of everyone he met, and his loss leaves a hole that can never be filled.”
