MEDINA, Tenn. (WMC/Gray News) – A woman in Tennessee is accused of selling black market weight loss drugs, according to authorities.
Law enforcement officers searched a home that was supplying weight loss clinics in two different counties with the drugs.
Johnie Carter, Director of the West Tennessee Violent Crime and Drug Task Force said a total of 698 vials of Semaglutide, Tirzepatide and Congrilitide were seized.
The first search warrant was carried out at a home on December 8.
Agents found 330 vials of black market drugs, some with warning labels stating the drugs are not for human consumption and for research purposes only.
Authorities said 41-year-old Emily Brook Arnold was charged with impersonating a licensed professional, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, criminal simulation, selling a legend drug and money laundering.
After Arnold’s arrest, another search warrant was carried out at Medina Weight Loss and Wellness, a clinic where the drugs were being supplied to.
Agents found 279 vials at this clinic.
A third search warrant was carried out at Haywood Weight Loss and Wellness.
Another 89 vials were seized.
Carter said the owners of these clinics are cooperating with authorities and calling customers who purchased the drugs to recall them.
Agents with the task force set up a Hotline email [email protected].
If you have additional information on these drugs or questions for law enforcement, you are asked to email the hotline.
If you purchased these drugs, you should return them to the clinic or to Medina Police Department.
Do not use these drugs.
Carter said officials have no idea what’s in the drugs because they are not approved for human use.
