Many motorists find it difficult to own up to, but parking can often be a real challenge.
Factors such as infrequent practice, fear of tight spaces and just a general apprehension about parking can make the task daunting for many. However, there’s no need for concern anymore, as a man has taken to social media to share an excellent three-step method that promises to simplify parallel parking for everyone.
Shared on TikTok by drivingschooltv0, the instructional video is straightforward enough for any driver to pull off. The genius lies in mastering your angles and understanding the right moment to turn the steering wheel.
The process is surprisingly simple once it’s deconstructed into clear steps.
During the video, the instructor explains: “How to parallel park into tight spaces. Get the back of your car in line with the back of the car you’re parking against.
“Check around, steer all the way to the left. When you can see the pavement-side lights of the car behind you, turn right and straighten up your wheels.
“When the back of your car connects with the kerb then steer fully to the right. Straighten up and you’re done.”
The video quickly amassed over 6,000 views and sparked a flurry of comments from other road users. Many jumped at the chance to express their opinions on the straightforward parking technique.
One commented: “That’s a better way. My first instructor showed me the 121 method – I never got it.”
Another soon-to-be-tested driver shared: “I’ve got my test soon, and parallel parking and reversing into a bay I’m packing about. I can’t do it.”
A third chimed in with: “Thank you for this. A lot faster way to do it as a newbie driver.”
The RAC notes that parallel parking allows you to fit into tighter spaces when you aren’t able to drive straight in. By reversing in, you make the most of one available space, as parallel parking can sometimes be the sole option.
