A 51-year-old man was rushed to hospital with ‘serious’ injuries on Monday evening after being hit by a car in Motherwell.

Emergency services were alerted to a crash involving a pedestrian and a car on Windmillhill Street in the North Lanarkshire town.

The male pedestrian was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains in a serious condition.

The busy road was closed for around 11 hours through the night while officers carried out their enquiries. It reopened at around 6.20am this morning.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with dash-cam footage of the crash to come forward.

A police spokesperson said: “Around 7.10pm on Monday, December 16 police were called to a crash involving a pedestrian and a car on Windmillhill Street in Motherwell.

“The pedestrian, a 51-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains in a serious condition.

“The road was closed for around 11 hours while officers carried out enquiries and reopened around 6.20am on Tuesday, December 17.

“Enquiries remain ongoing and anyone who witnessed the incident or who can provide dash-cam footage which may assist is asked to contact police via 101 quoting incident number 3167 of 16 December, 2024.”
