Max George has opened up, revealing the need for heart surgery “way quicker” than initially anticipated by medical professionals due to pressing health concerns.

The 36-year-old member of The Wanted recently shared that he might require a pacemaker, and following a comprehensive CT scan of his heart, it emerged that his heart rate had not increased “in almost a week”.

Taking to Instagram, Max posted: “Had a little day trip today. Full CT scan on my heart. Not something I’d choose to do again! As I mentioned yesterday, I have a 2:1 block in my heart. Unfortunately, my heart rate hasn’t picked up at all in almost a week.”

Expressing the urgency of the situation, the singer continued: “Because of this, we don’t have too much time to wait so it looks like I’m going to be in surgery way quicker than the doctors first thought. I may even be home for Christmas!”

Although he experienced a challenging few nights, Max expressed how he has been left feeling “overwhelmed” by the outpour of support from his fans as reported by the Manchester Evening News.

He expressed his gratitude saying: “The last few nights have been really rough, but I wanted to say that I’m absolutely humbled by all your messages of support. Both people I know and those i don’t.”

He continued, highlighting the comfort that the support has provided for both himself and his family: “It’s given me a much-needed boost, and my family has been overwhelmed with support, which means more to me than anything. Much love. Max.”

Max was met with an outpouring of love and support from fans online, as one person wrote: “Sending lots of love Max.” Another fan sent well-wishes with the message: “Continuing to send lots of prayers and love your way! “

One fan encouraged him by writing: “Get well soon Max. We love you and wish you healing and positive vibes,” as another reassured him by commenting: “You’re in good hands! Hang in there Max.”

It comes after the singer revealed last week he was admitted to hospital with a heart problem, and may be forced to spend Christmas under medical care.

Doctors later confirmed his diagnosis of a 2:1 atrioventricular block a condition that causes a delay or blockage of electrical impulses, leading to slower heartbeats or an irregular rhythm. He mentioned a scan would be taken to determine further treatment.
