An Amazon delivery person crashed into the garage door of a home on Long Island — causing $2,000 in damages — then drove off without acknowledging the incident, according to two residents who say the incident was caught on video.
Erin Brembs, one of the tenants of the home in Commack, Suffolk County, said she was home at the time of the incident when she heard “a really loud bang.”
“I was a little alarmed and nervous to see what was going on,” Brem told News 12 Long Island. “By the time I was able to come out here, she was already gone,” Brem said of the delivery person.
Ring security camera footage shared with News 12 shows the driver approaching the residence around 8 a.m. on Monday to drop off a package at the front door.
However, as she takes a picture of the delivery, her car continues to move forward, eventually crashing into the garage.
Once the driver noticed what was happening she ran back to the vehicle — but didn’t get there in time to avoid the crash, which severely dented the garage door, according to the residents.
The driver is then seen on video driving off without saying anything or even leaving a note.
Bremb’s housemate, Brittany Armato, was frustrated with the driver’s alleged lack of transparency.
“You would hope people do the right thing because it could have been handled completely differently if she just stayed,” Armato told News 12. “It’s an accident. Things happen.”
The incident could’ve been more serious, according to Brembs, who said “there’s actually a bedroom behind that garage door.”
“I’m just glad nobody was hurt,” she said.
The incident is being investigated by Suffolk County police.
